The best internet community I know of is Democratic Underground, or it least it used to be when I was a Democrat. I think they have gotten more purely lefty in the last five years.
One unique feature of the site is that posts are not banned by a moderator, but by a jury system. This works pretty well. Only way to moderate those raging leftists is to let them ban each other. lol
