Understandable. I was curious, so I looked it up. It appears Michigan chose to do the absentee method in-person for early voting. It appears they didn't even offer polling places for early voting.
One wrinkle I found in the early voting/absentee thing in MI was that family members could drop off your ballot for you. That is a weakness. In TX, you had to drop off your own absentee ballot no matter what. Otherwise you had to mail it, so it would be postmarked with date and time. Which is the traditional method of sending absentee ballots. I don't like that Michigan let "family members" drop it off. Who's to say who a family member is? How is that defined? 4th Cousin once removed, brother-in-law, fiance'? How many family members is a person allowed to have? "The Duggars" have 7,000 immediate family members.(haha) Lax policy, potentially vulnerable to ballot harvesting fraud.
As for PA, they has early voting stations as well as in-person absentee...which seems to have been more tightly controlled. Less chance for fraud. Should be easy to look down receipt registers and signatures if needed. You had to sign receipt registers in TX.
