There are some people in my life that are Democrats, and I don't despise them for it. They are very intelligent people. What I have noticed about them, however, is that they are highly risk averse, have trouble making decisions, and only very reluctantly hold others accountable for their actions.

Take a lokk at the state of the jackass party since the TEA Party in 2010. Thay have been losing at every turn save the Obama Re-Election. State level, local and federal. They started 2008 with a supermajority in the senate and a majority in the house. They lost that in 2010 and 2014, and only regained the house in 2018, with theor majority being slimmed odwn as we speak.
At the state level, the majority are controlled by republican govs and legislatures.
the federal level incumbenets are much harder to beat with gerrymandering and the state party control of those races.
