I'd be up for keeping the republic, ditching any attempt at empire and no emperors thank you very much. For every constantine you will get some neros and caligulas.

But the great thing about that dilemma is that DJT doesn't want empire! He has been 'untangling our alliances' rather beautifully. I'll take strong and independent any day
