Oh is that "extreme"? Well it actually isn't when you realize men and women have laid their lives down for your right to vote. People have died for this sacred right and practice and those who seek to steal it from you deserve no less.
Now I'm not saying this so we can decorate the National Mall with miles of gallows. The purpose is primarily to scare people out of doing it which the threat of death is a powerful deterrent. Hell, more powerful than five years in jail and felony charges which is a slap on the wrist considering people aren't afraid of getting caught.
Not sure I'd go that far. Plenty of weak-minded people are professionally brainwashed into thinking they're doing the right thing by committing low-level vote fraud (they actually believe a lot of the garbage they're being fed about stuff like police all over the country shooting and killing perfectly innocent black people on a regular basis, and how it will only get worse if Trump/Republicans get elected). Now the people at the top orchestrating all this fraud deffinitely deserve the death penalty. But the rank-and-file suckers and losers who carry out their instructions should just lose their right to vote for the rest of their lives.
I disagree. The purpose is to prevent people from doing it. But even still your ideology means excusing personal responsibility. I understand your point, but people still actively choose to make that choice to be brainwashed. It's easier to be told what to do than to think for yourself, but you are still choosing to be a follower.
The Nazis made the excuse that they were just following orders. But that didn't save them in the trials as it should not.
Perhaps a Minimum of 25 to life for the lower tier ones is an option, but it's clear the current punishment isn't even causing any of these faggots to flinch and that's a problem. If tomorrow the President signed an executive order forcing them into GITMO (just a hypothetical example I know not really doable) and it was perfectly legal, perhaps most would in fact come forward and confess their sins.
Either way, I do not agree or accept the "I was brainwashed" crap. You still choose to accept the conditioning.
I'm being reasonable and realistic about how many people are committing low-level vote fraud. About how many clueless college kids are voting from both their home and college addresses, or "helping" demented Grandma fill out her absentee ballot, or volunteering to collect and deliver (and maybe "help" fill out) absentee ballots for their barely literate neighbors in the kinds of low-rent neighborhoods where college students and barely literate welfare addicts live, because they really truly believe the scary BS they've been brainwashed with (at institutions that are largely regulated and funded by the government). Then you march these kids into prison for a decade or more, for doing what the government-controlled institutions brainwashed them to do? See the problem there? Obviously such a proposal would be political suicide, but it would also be moral suicide.
