To anyone who bought shares favoring a Trump win on PredictIt, please be aware that according to many others using the site that I've been talking to, PredictIt will CLOSE the market on December 15th when all electoral results are in.
Whether they are fraudulent or not won't matter, because they will accept the 'certified', 'official' counts, like Georgia for example. There isn't gonna be any waiting around until January 20th for inauguration.
And based on these parameters, the only way Trump wins in the eyes of PredictIt is if there is a coup on or before that date, and a coup will NOT pay out! They would go with the fraudulent electoral count anyway!
And if it's overruled in the courts, that would be AFTER the markets have already been closed based on the fraudulent electoral count and most likely end with Trump being inaugurated or with Biden conceding after December 15th.
Look, I could be wrong here, but I'm just trying to help you guys out. I had $3300 worth of shares and I sold them. I still have bets on other sites but I'm not able to retract them. I just wanted to get them off PredictIt.
It's really a bad deal on that site anyway. They charge 10% of your winnings, 5% of withdrawals, and other fees and conversions on every trade. It's garbage. They were sending out partisan, biased emails that clearly show they are favoring a Biden victory.
Best of luck to you whatever you decide, but just take precautions. I know what it feels like to lose a lot of money on stupid unfair shit like gambling and trading when things are out of your control.
This is why for all my Trump bets I made, I was clear to the people I was betting with that what mattered was who ended up becoming President by any means including civil war. Everyone thought I was crazy for specifying the bets this specifically but I knew betting on this election would get messy.
Yeah, see, this is my point. Things are going to get messy either way, so it's going to be unclear. I just feel like these sites are going to go along with the MSM and 'official' bullshit that favors them.
I'd probably sue them. I think you'd have a very strong case that given what you were betting on the implied definition and understanding how the contract would be who is inaugurated as president on January 20, 2021. IMO by saying it's actually who the electors vote and not who is inaugurated you could suggest they're swindling people no different than selling a picture of a camera on ebay instead of actually settling a camera.
It's hard to say what will happen. A lot of these Trump bets are insane, like 1/25 odds on Betfair. I imagine they are going to go with whatever makes them the most money with this whole election being all over the place and things up in the air. They can make their own rules that favor their company bank.
So with a lot of them rooting for a Biden win, and probably having more people betting on the favorite (although for a smaller payout), they would still rather just say fuck you to the Trump betters regardless of what legal action or shenanigans happens that gets Trump in office.
I sold mine too a while ago. Made some money
Good for you! : )
Dec 14th is the final day anyway, courts can't do anything after that
Yep. I just worry that some people don't realize that's when they will close the markets. I think some people are hoping PredictIt is going to wait around until everything is 'overturned', all outstanding cases settled in the courts, inauguration day, etc.
The way that the site has it set up, it's like people are throwing there money away by betting on Trump. They are betting on a miracle because of the parameters.
