I keep seeing this said among people who are on our side. My question for the people who say this is why? Why would you accept it?
I understand that Constitutionally it would be legitimate at that point, but I think this goes way beyond the Constitution. We know what's at stake here, we know exactly what's on the line and what we will lose with a Biden administration because they've been telling us exactly what they want to do if they have power for the past 4 years. This is good vs. evil and even if there wasn't any fraud I think accepting a Biden presidency is accepting the death of our country.
Acceptance doesn't mean endorsement. I accept that commies can chant "fuck Trump". That doesn't mean i agree with them. It just means i respect their first amendment right we all have.
Had Biden won fair and square (he didn't) i would have accepted the will of the people that voted for him. That's how democracy works: you win some, you lose some.
That doesn't mean i would agree with the policies he puts forth or blindly accept them. I would, as part of the opposition, try to obstruct or "neuter" the laws to have them be less radical. That's why we have majority and opposition; why we have the senate and the filibuster. It forces cooperation between parties and makes radical ideas hard to implement without a series of same party landslides which rarely happen.
Of course should he start abusing the powers of his office to impose radical ideas like court packing or "nuclear options" then it would be time to actively protest and have him removed by any means necessary. But if someone, anyone wins an election FAIRLY he deserves a chance. Even if it's not your guy. You might be right and might be an incompetent asshole. But maybe other people saw something in him that you missed.
You don't grab the pitchforks and torches just because you lost. That's what antifa does. We're civil human beings. We keep the pitchforks & torches handy, but we wait to use them until all peaceful options have been exhausted.
