Serious question, what's the "survival rate" of any given day for an individual over 70?

The CDC stats for 2018 are broken down for 65-74, 75-84, and 84 and up.

Adding up those death rates, about 19.6% of Americans over the age of 65 died in 2018. In other words, the "survival rate" of 2018 for people over 65 was only 80.4%. So the odds for surviving COVID-19, are about 1.18 times better than the odds for just surviving the year.

Those numbers do not add up correctly.

Either the infection fatality rate has to have the decimal point two places to the right, or the survival rate does.

If 94.6% of seniors survive an infection, then 5.4% die (same principle with all the other age groups). Or the fatality rate really is 0.054% for them, in which case the survival rate is 99.946%, which means catching Covid is safer than crossing a street with a green light.

The infection fatality rate is based on an estimate of total infections rather than confirmed cases. This is how all flu deaths were calculated every year before 2020.

They calculate covid-19 deaths as a function of case fatality rate, which generates much higher (and scarier) death rates.

If more people understood this simple obfuscation, the Great Reset wouldn't work.

The infection fatality rate is based on an estimate of total infections rather than confirmed cases.

Does this mean that they're just multiplying the confirmed cases by 100 for all age groups to get an estimate of total infections?

If it were any number other than 100, or if they used different multipliers for each age group (on the grounds that some age groups are more likely to have their cases identified than others), it would be much clearer, but as it is it looks like a classic "0.99¢" (99 hundredths of a cent, not of a dollar) mixup.

I think you are correct pede. Decimal in the wrong place. Well this is not a mundane detail, Michael!

Ah yes, Verizon math! The most classic of blunders.

That is static. Every year is like that.

Obesity kills more people each year, about 300K, we MUST lock down all the healthy people or the obesity epidemic will kill everyone!

They're going to roll out "covid21" next year. IMO it'll be the results of the vaccine they force on people blamed on a non-existent virus. Buckle up!!
