It's a catch-22. Doing more tests yields more "cases", but helps support a more accurate lower mortality rate. Fewer tests weeds out false positives, asymptos, etc but less data allows assumptions to fudge the results.
I know, but so much of the fear mongering is on "stopping the spread." Schools and businesses continue to force everyone to get tested & quarantine whenever they travel, have minor symptoms, or when someone else tests positive. If we went back to just treating the illness like we did the flu, then most of this madness would go away.

Keyword "fear" right there. Lots of places, my work included, use screening questionnaires that we have to update every 2 weeks. Asks about recent travel, exposure contacts, symptoms. I think a lot of people over report information out of an "abundance of caution" . You do that shit someplace like a hospital and they tag you as a probable without even testing.
