In every state two types of militias are recognized as legal either by statute or its constitution. The organized militia, the state guard, (not to be confused with the National Guard) which is formed and funded by the state government and the unorganized militia, the one formed by ordinary citizens. Look it up in your state.
In the 1700s the term militia meant ordinary citizens not an army formed by the government . Progressives make the absurd argument that the second amendment only permits a state militia to bear arms. Either they lie or are ignorant of history. If only a state militia was intended to have firearms there would be no need to have a second amendment. It was a given an army formed by the state would be armed.
You can gather your friends and form a militia as long as its formation is not for an illegal purpose like to rob a bank.
