People are rightly apprehensive given history's examples of civil war, including our own. They can be devastating, and worse, weaken us at a time that enemies abroad will act to expand and consolidate their own power. The latter may be the biggest risk by far.
Violence and war against our own countrymen should be an absolute last resort. We should try everything else before even going to that option.
Most people don't want to kill people. Especially their brothers. The civil war devastated us as a people. Especially to our morale. It creates animosity too. One side is seen is as the subjugator.
War messes people up. Permanently. This isn't Call of Duty. You don't get to respawn and targets don't vanish once the poly count has been reached. The last thing anyone would want is to harm others. Only when pushed to the brink should that option even be considered. I don't want to see my friends and family have half their face shot off and screaming in agony, or burned by a car bomb, or ambushed from a high rise to rack up body counts. I don't want to hear them scream in pain or drown in their own blood. I don't want to see their limbs destroyed or blown off. I don't want to smell singed hair and melted flesh. I don't want to see the blank stares in peoples eyes that can't recall the horror's of what they've seen and done.
Atrocities are performed on both sides. If there was a civil war, imagine the rampant rape, theft, murder, and brutality that would occur.
That is the only major downside of civil war. If its not dealt with quickly then we risk being swept up by another country. That is why I think if this does happen, its going to end fast. 0-100 real quick. Preferably avoid engagements altogether and night of the long knives this shit.

No, not at all. I'm completely on the "fight" train because the alternative is a dystopia humanity may never escape.

War is hell but a necessary way to secure freedom and Liberty.
