At this point I find it very profitable to consider the Melian Dialogues as well.

PS. Machiavelli wasn't an evil asshole; he was a very heartbroken, disillusioned idealist...people should really read more than just "The Prince" so as to provide proper context for that far more subtle and sophisticated work than what is often given

Thucydides is fascinating. Damn that was a fun read. Except for Syracuse and all that.
