And despite the “Assault Weapons” ban earlier this year, one rifle that was strangely not on it was the Norinco Type-81.
This means that it’s possible to get a gun that is actually banned in the US, in Canada! (Preferably used in this case since it’s chicom)
Now another tidbit is that there is a “repatriation” clause in arms trade law that could be argued that any firearms that have remained in a different country from where it was originally made for over five years can be considered from that new country. In theory, some enterprising Canadian entrepreneurs could export arms that would otherwise be banned in the US sometime next year
