This. Seriously, AKs prefer steel anyway. Throw as much corrosive shit through it but just clean it right after. Russian accent Rifle just works.

AFAIK the AK was built for shooting steel case ammo. Pretty sure their military still uses steel for their AK74s. The AR can shoot steel, but whether or not they’ll play nice with them can be random.

That's spot on there. It's a very mild/soft steel the casings are made from. think about the kind of steel used to forge the barrel chambers and bolt faces.

If you haven't had to kick the charging handle of a Russian designed weapon to break the bolt free you really haven't experienced the brilliance of Soviet designed weapons.

American weapon that is locked up tight: Soak in Kroil or use heat to gently break free the problem.

Soviet weapon: Piss on it, lean it against a tree and kick the charging handle until it comes free.
