Wondered what ammunition types pedes recommend. 9mm is a favorite of mine, but I can hardly find it locally so if there are less common alternatives, I'm all ears!
Really don't have any disqualifying parameters other than that. What's your favorite?

Guess it really depends. I like my Smith and Wesson 45 revolver to carry, but I like my Glock 34. It's more for target shooting, but figured it might come in handy with a slightly longer barrel some day
Any gun with 20-25 rounds is better than a six shooter.
That is why the 9mm is so fucking awesome. Only round that can become like sardines in a magazine.
The SW revolver is purely for up close protection, and revolvers don't jam. The only real reason I bought it.
People gonna hate on it, but 22WMR. You can usually find tons of it even at Walmart, whilst everything else is sold out. It makes a great rifle round especially for personal defense in a rifle, it's not regulated for game but it can take you down a deer. It may not be as powerful as 9 mm or 45 in a handgun, however most thugs are cowards and the sight of a gun scares them it doesn't even matter what caliber it is.
Best thing is you can find hundreds of rounds for practice. What good does 223 do you if you can't buy 223.what good does 9 mm do you if you can't even find 9 mm to buy
I have a rifle for hunting with that. I like it a lot. How does it perform in a handgun in your experience? I would imagine the shorter barrel would impact velocity a bit.
I have a Ruger lcr and a north american arms mini. I love them, and they are crazy accurate at the range. I'm in a liberal city, so being super concealed is very important, as i would immediately lose my job if I even imprint, (office job, but they are all super anti gun).
funny story is one time I was eating lunch with a co-worker and they were expressing how scared and terrified they would be if they were in the same room as a gun little did he know I was sitting right across from him with my trusty LCR. That poor guy would have shit a brick had even had a clue.
That's absolutely hilarious!
Another advantage if you use the same caliber for both pistol and rifle your ammo goes farther for multiple purposes.
9mm is the most plentiful ammo in the USA and the whole world
