95% of the worlds opioids come from afghanistan, or at least it used to be the case in say 2012 when I was looking into this. It could be more, it could be less. But it's most certainly the same since we've seen no big changes to relocate our millions and millions of hectares of drug farming to another location on this planet.
Opioids are used for heroin, fentanyl and for pharma. So it supplying both licit and illicit substances. Meaning supplying pharma AND the illegal blackmarket.
