As a kid I was never really into American culture to be honest. I was more of a rebel or rebellious teen. Left the rebel behind when I grow up a bit but still didn't have a connection with a lot of American holidays etc. After the last 4-5 years I feel I've changed. I just saw a older TV show that featured Halloween theme and I couldn't help but smile about how american kids trick or treating is. That made me consider my feelings about other holidays especially american holidays like the 4th of July. There is a joy that didn't burn in my soul before and does now. I'm so happy and hope I'm not alone. I feel ashamed that I once argued with a teacher about saying the pledge of allegiance in middle school. That is all.

I was a stupid teen rebelling against. I was stupid. Mr. Russell if you are by chance here I was wrong. You served this country in battle and I dismissed you and your service and your flag. You didn't kick my ass. Thank you I now understand how stupid I was. Thank You for what its worth.
