Ban it from coming into the country then. If you want to start arresting people. Arrest the moms who are selling all their oxy cotin to kids in high school.
Lets get the government out of the drug business first, then we go after the low level pushers. Yes, addiction is a mental health issue, but addicts dont seek treatment willingly. There has to be a very rock solid choice with a consequence. For me it was my wife was going to leave and i would never see my kids again if i continued in my path. But she didnt tell me i could keep all the alcohol in the house at the same time. Do you understand that analogy? You dont solve an addicts problem by making it easier for them to acquire the substance or material they are addicted to. You dont make child porn legal to help offer treatment for child porn addicts? The same for illicit substances. All addictions are the same. Heroin is not a weed that grows naturally, or can be cultivated like marijuana. It is derived from a plant, as all drugs are, but there is a process by chemistry that alters its natural state to make it more potent, which in turn, makes it extremely addictive. I could say the same for cigarettes. The difference lies with the addict. Some, like myself would not continue to smoke if it were made illegal. My family comes first, and yes i have sacrificed my smoking when funds are short. If it were illegal, i would choose not to pursue it. Others would not care and would commit other crimes to feed their addictions, as some do......meth heads and their affinity for stealing copper wiring, heroin addicts and their affinity for stealing money from family and friends....etc. not everyone will make the choice you want them to. I recognize that you cannot legislate morality, but you sure as hell should not legalize everything and then say "but we offer treatment", as justification for allowing persons to destroy themselves legally only to save the taxpayer a few bucks. That does no one any favors.
