It's not just in voting poles. A very high percentage of the black population compared to other races are employed by the government, period. I've always heard that the high level of job security was very attractive to the black population and that this has been a reality for decades; however, it could very well be true that government is more inclined to hire them for quota reasons. I wouldn't make any claims of that being bad or good, necessarily; simply note worthy.
Very noteworthy. Also noteworthy that government workers in general are (usually) noticeably horrible at their jobs. They can utterly fail to fulfill their duty and never lose their jobs, guaranteed vacation every holiday or anytime the wind blows. The worst customer service ever. And still they get that pension.
It’s very attractive to lazy lethargic people who may not want to work but get all those benefits and at the same time have power to grief average white citizens on a daily basis. I work with a black guy who told me “Yeah, actually all that shit you take off black folks? Many of them talk about it with the rest of us. It’s a means of reparations”. So black people are literally out there causing problems and grieving white people out of pure racism. He said “ever notice when your driving through a cross walk and You have to stop for a pedestrian? If their white the usually walk at normal pace or move faster to get out of your way? And if they’re black do they move slower all of a sudden?” I said “Actually, yeah”. “Because you’re white” he said.
This guy I work with is a conservative. And literally told me all this one day after a black female customer put me through hell and gave me more shit than you could imagine. “Grief Reparations”.
I used to hire some black tradesmen. The price was right, and the quality was ok for what i needed. One of them would bring his kid everyday, maybe 9 or 10 years old. So one day i offered to take the kid out for lunch. Kid was sharp, and we had some conversations, he ends up telling me his dad told him “never trust whitey”. That was a real eye opener for me. Made for interesting conversation the rest of the afternoon.
I've heard all this before. It's shocking that this is considered a legitimate pursuit and in no way considered so counter productive as to be more harmful to oneself than anything else. This is a cultural problem and it's engrained down to the bone.
If your culture is steeped in pointing your finger at an ominous facade for all your woes then is it a surprise when that culture produces a bunch of people with chips on their shoulder. How often is racism blamed for something where no racism occurred? How often when racism isn't the reason but touted as still somehow the reason--such as "Well I only thought that because racism is such a problem most of the time". I think this problem is far more a problem than police brutality. When people are subjected to this mindset they will insure it is the cause even when it is not. Even more important, how often is this warped perspective used to control people?
