What we're seeing right now is more akin to the brainwashing and economic devastation during the Weimar Republic days. People forget that Gemans didn't just wake up one day and start hating jres, communists, gays, and whoever else. It was easy to make them hate because they were oppressed and exploited by the same people who played the victim whenever they were called out.
