Why are we even voting or tabulating electronically? If India--a country of 1 billion people--can vote on paper and have verifiable results in under 24 hours, then we can too.

Outside of the desire to cheat, there is NO reason to be voting electronically.

Spez for typo, and to say: full agreement with Pedes who are saying voter id, vote in person, and secure the absentee process.

AND voter ID!

49
undefined 49 points ago +49 / -0

And one-way hash receipts

You get a tear off ticket from your ballot with a code (not tied to your ID).

You can look up how your ballot was counted by this code.

And finger ink at the polling stations

Low tech is best tech. Stain the fingers of those who cast ballots.

And annual voter roll purging

You want to vote in an upcoming election? You need to register every election - with a paper form - using your Voter ID Number.

14
Libraritarian 14 points ago +14 / -0

Was thinking something similar on the receipt but not as thought out. I like these ideas

5
fauxgnaws 5 points ago +5 / -0

If you need a receipt then the counting happens some other time, so receipt is bad news.

If you're there watching the counting at your local poll then you don't need a receipt. Get a receipt for the local poll count that you watched not for your vote.

5
Libraritarian 5 points ago +5 / -0

I was thinking its more like just a reference number. Like 'Your vote has been counted and is in the database under the vote id ###########'

11
AlohaChris 11 points ago +11 / -0

I have to do this every 2 years to keep my medical license. Why not for Voting?

8
Pederella 8 points ago +8 / -0

This is the way forward. The only reason to do differently is to cheat.

11
undefined 11 points ago +11 / -0

If we get this, Democrats will lose all power.

If your party falls from "50% of representation" to "15-20% of representation" - all those special interest bucks evaporate. The corrupt media engine evaporates. This is the end game.

6
Pederella 6 points ago +6 / -0

No. There will be regrouping and repackaging. Even the special interest groups are only facades for the real threats.

7
Turtleavacado 7 points ago +7 / -0

I don't understand finger ink can someone explain why that is a protection measure?

9
undefined 9 points ago +9 / -0

If you try to manually vote in multiple locations - you cant hide finger ink

Sounds dumb - but it's also stupid hard to un-stain your finger fast enough to vote again.

3
603win 3 points ago +3 / -0

It’s so that we can identify cheating democrats by missing digits after election day

4
Knowmadicsoul 4 points ago +4 / -0 (edited)

Can Voter ID just be SSN? Or would that be a problem?

Edit: I just looked it up. SSNs can also be issued to non-citizens, but the Social Security cards themselves are different. I would also think, since it's a federally issued card, voting eligibility can be tracked because age and citizenship is tracked. Seems to me, the SSN database could be used along with a picture ID.

Any thoughts?

7
undefined 7 points ago +7 / -0

You don't want to write down your SSN and hand it to people with a folding table outside of the grocery store.

2
Knowmadicsoul 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't understand why you'd need to to that. You're just presenting it as your voter ID to the election official when it's time to vote.

3
undefined 3 points ago +3 / -0

Because otherwise we will have the same dirty voter rosters (with the IDs) as we do with the current registration system.

You need both. ID + regular registration to keep the lists clean.

1
freebirdie 1 point ago +1 / -0

Illegals have been buying and selling valid SSNs for decades. Some numbers have 20 or more people assigned to it. No way I'm being denied a vote because some Guatemalan house cleaner got paid 100 bucks by her rich Democrat boss to vote before I got off of work.

Blockchain could very well be an answer.

At the same time I picture the year 2134, where paper ballots are used in our intergalactic American Republic. The one thing to preserve

3
lake-koshkonong 3 points ago +3 / -0

This August the government filed a new patent for blockchain voting that involves the USPS system too.

https://www.jdsupra.com/legalnews/usps-to-utilize-blockchain-with-new-31020/

I would like to believe that the President has the mechanics in place to completely change elections moving forward after this fiasco and kind of... let it happen (the cheating) so it could be exposed.

2
Mr_Dr_Jullian_Dunbar 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's interesting and have heard a lot of parroting about block chain voting for a few years now. Ideally seeing how our tax dollars are spent on particular programs in real time and rock solid voting is going to be the future.

Well in fairness Trump himself was saying we should implement voter ID in his rallies, yet he never did anything about it

8

He couldn't. He needed the backing of the states and congress.

A fair portion of our country is seditious.

if there ever was a time for PDJT to get creative Constitutionally, I'm all for EO's securing our elections on a national basis (paper, ID, no machines)

the Democrat run states are rogue - as a Oregon resident, our elections are NOT secure - my rights are being violated

10
WishdoctorsSong 10 points ago +10 / -0

We did and we were yelling about it. However as this goes on its starting to look like this Dominion scam is bigger than just the US, it has implications in leftists taking power across the globe. It's not enough just to have one more safe election with Trump then move on, we need to find, try, and convict those who are prepetrating the fraud. For that to happen, you have to catch them in the act.

5
Cledus 5 points ago +5 / -0

Maybe Trump didn't do anything so he could set up a sting and trap them.

Probably all those shows are. Put the favorites behind so more people call in to "fix" things. They have no responsibility to be honest and every reason to want more money.

There was a competition in the UK a few years back that got in some hot water for continuing to take (expensive) calls after the winner had already been decided.

Italian system: paper ballots printed on special paper that is hard to falsify, voter ID required before voting, Copying pencils to vote, so as to make a sign that is very easy to see and impossible to erase due to chemical reactions with the paper.

Counting has to be done polling station by polling station directly and communicated to state capital after count ends by each station, count has to happen with the presence of a watcher from each party, who also helps with the counting and can dispute ballots.

Results up to the single polling station should be made available online after a week from the vote.

2
preludelinux 2 points ago +2 / -0

Start now to force the voting machines out. You gotta ask why all the politicians are not talking about the elephant in the room. The machine are ran by a foreign company and we are still using them. Unless it's worse then we though and for years they have been stacking the deck against us. I say this if they are all quiet maybe they all got elected by it. Its time to fix this once and for all.

2
tdwinner2020 2 points ago +2 / -0

We need:

  • voter ID
  • tamper-evident paper audit log of who voted when
  • tamper-evident cryptographic blockchain online distributed audit log of who voted when (with cryptographic timestamps) with cryptographic markers of closing time
  • paper ballots
  • ballot boxes that cannot print ballots
  • tamper-evident ballot boxes
  • I do like the idea that ballot boxes have a camera and take a picture of every ballot dropped, and these should be sent in batches of 100 encrypted (with public keys, and signed with device private keys with device serial number attestations from the vendor) to certified watchers from all parties so that altering the ballots after the precincts close is not an option.

This all means that we can have no post-closing ballot stuffing because that would yield more ballots than people voted. They could not vote for people who were registered but didn't vote. And it would mean they could not change ballots after they were cast. And we could have fast and reliable counts. And the audit logs of who voted when could be used for detecting double voting.

2
DaayTerkErJerbs 2 points ago +2 / -0

Every person touching ballots needs have 1 GOP an 1 Dem watching everything. No farther than 2 feet away over their shoulder. Cameras recording every vote and streamed online. If a camera fails no counting can take place at that spot until its replaced and the stream is back up. Probably need federal employees overseeing the counting everywhere in the country an the federal employees should have jurisdiction within the buildings ballots are being counted so local Democrat police can't violate election laws an throw out legal observers for objecting to something as was done this year.

2
Gadsden 2 points ago +2 / -0

Once it's a done deal, we need to start the pressure for a whole slew of things.

-National Registry of Citizens (all the other western countries have this)

- Voter ID

-No Mail Ballots *

(* You can just put the officials on tour, to go through the hospitals / nursing homes etc, and take the votes. That is how they do it in Finland. And put up official Early voting places with poll watchers, id certification etc)

2
Palazzolo1 2 points ago +2 / -0

Agreed. But, may I suggest that all paper ballots for any and all federal elections be:

Printed in watermarked NCR format and in three parts. Top copy to a (newly formed) States Office of Federal Elections in Washington, D.C., second copy to the States Boards of Elections (all 50 states), and the third copy to the voter as a receipt. All ballots must include a complete Social Security Number and be completed, signed, and dated by the voter, and only the voter.

All such ballots for federal elections must be printed and sent to all USPS postal annexes in all 50 States where any and all voters will go to vote and mail out their completed ballots to the county election boards of their State and to the (newly formed) States Office of Federal Elections via the USPS annex in Washington, D.C. (which will need to be enormously enlarged) to be officially verified and counted.

The States Office of Federal Elections would need to be under the complete control of the States per U.S. Constitution. Nowhere in the Constitution does it state WHERE the States control the federal elections.

The United States citizens and legally eligible voter data base at the States Office of Federal Elections must be provided and maintained by the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security Administration, and Department of Home- land Security. The data base must include social security numbers and signatures.

Any and all challenges to any and all federal elections can now be reliably investigated with checks and balances and in a timely manner. Any fraud conducted by the States will be caught at the federal level, any fraud conducted at the federal level will be caught by the States, and any fraud conducted via collusion at the State and federal levels will be caught by the voters via receipt.

Yes, the cost for this would be in the millions, but what cost legitimate federal elections? At what cost an ease and trust in the federal election process?

1
Tawburgle2 [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Not being cute or quippy when I say--you've really thought this through. Are you an attorney, or have you held elected office?

2
TestableHypothesis 2 points ago +2 / -0

None of this will prevent the worst of the fraud we're seeing in places like Detroit and Philadelphia. It doesn't stop corrupt election workers from filling out bundles of ballots, impersonating voters, and preventing certain parties from observing or auditing.

How about open source review? Every ballot has a unique number. The voter, and only the voter knows which ballot is theirs. All ballots get published digitally within 3 days, and their status by midnight of election day. Names and addresses of all voters are published the next day in a separate list.

Severe penalties for allowing illegal votes. I don't care if they're IDed. I just want it easy to show 1) voter impersonation, 2) not a resident of precinct, or 3) ineligble to vote. Start cracking down and making people pay, and they'll shape up and require proof.

2
astral-cracker 2 points ago +2 / -0

or at least open-source voting machines

Consider the Indian system. Voter ID and thumbprints for 900 million people, and the elections are fairly honest.

Yes, thumbprints or signatures right on the paper ballots. Both can be quickly and easily verified.

Paper ballots, voter ID and blue fingers.

2
WaaPow 2 points ago +2 / -0

Agreed! Also voter ID, the national guard in each state counting the ballots, with one Republican, one Democrat, and one Independent observer per each ballot counter. Ballots should be treated like currency; under lock and key with armed guards and armored trucks.

2
ClemTiger 2 points ago +2 / -0

It'll be up to each state but we need to let them know we will allow nothing less

2
IDGAF-DT2020 2 points ago +2 / -0

2
CuckS1ayer 2 points ago +2 / -0

Giant ballot box in public view. Polls open, box is opened and checked in view of public then locked. Vote is private on paper ballots then you publicly drop it in the box.

When voting is done, box is opened and counted right there in public view, read out one by one with observers. Public can watch but not close enough to see names on ballots. Can use secret id numbers to avoid this. Have it livestreamed online as well. The box and ballots never leave public view except when being filled out by the voter.

Counting is done in shifts 24/7 until done. May take awhile in large precincts but it is public and you know where every ballot came from and that it arrived on time.

2

Voter ID, an electronic system that prints actual paper ballots, the paper ballot is the system of record, the electronic system is only to report stats until a full hand count is complete. fully traceable with voter ID.

2
MrSmartass 2 points ago +2 / -0

The ballots need to be serialized/blockchained/watermarked too

  • prevent truckloads of paper ballots arriving in middle of night
  • prevent workers from sending ballots through counting machines multiple times
2
JesusisKing 2 points ago +2 / -0

so does all of that reside in the courts? or does it have to come from the house?

2
Tawburgle2 [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I honestly have no idea. Voting methods are currently a state by state matter, so a national system might come at some price to states' rights, but it would require a radical overhaul and would probably touch all 3 branches of both state and federal govt

1

After Trump is sworn in for a 2nd term, we need to have a national discussion about the cheating that the democrats have been doing for years and whether or not they should be allowed to have a role in future elections.

Personally, I think the democrat party should be banned and dissolved.

2
DeplorableWeWin 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yes every state should be banning voting machines and using only paper ballots after this election and adding heavy restrictions on absentee voting and voter ID. And to prevent last minute ballot dumps precincts must report the exact number of absentee ballots they have right as polls close.

2
Postal 2 points ago +2 / -0

And national guard counting them.

2
mrbear10mm 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is only one step, and I still believe absentee ballots have a place particularly for those on active duty or deployed, travellers, students that maintain residency in their home states... the things that were always reasonable.

How does Judicial Watch win a lawsuit over a year ago requiring PA to clean up the rolls and they can just ignore the order without consequence? They claimed they didn't have the time but sure had the time to turn the system upside down only to go on and blatantly ignore another court order.

The only reason I dont want to see absentee ballots going as a whole is because it disenfranchises those serving in our armed forces. Lots of AD personell maintain their home state as residency, some get PCS'ed after deadlines, others are on deployments and temporary duty assignments away from home.

2
Turtleavacado 2 points ago +2 / -0

VOTER ID

And there should be some uniform regulation/standards/acceptable practices for states. How some states can be so efficient and others be a total disaster is a disgrace to our nation.

2

We also need some kind of regulation on the way ballots are counted. No machines that connect to the internet. Nothing that tabulates data overseas. Nothing that can mark ballots.
