One of the things I cannot comprehend is how the well-to-do liberals (not "rich" but high income/nice house/manageable tax rates) believe they are both going to keep that lifestyle and comfort while also paying higher taxes, paying for free healthcare and education and living in a socialist nation. Like, do they not want to keep their income/jobs/financial security? I do.

You're overestimating their ability to connect one with the other. In my experience, they're the kind of children who never had firm boundaries with clear punishments when they did something wrong, so they never developed the mental capacity to understand that decisions have consequences.

The strongest are never those unchallenged. Those that gain strength must do so because they MUST do so.

because they all work directly or indirectly in the government economy that has grown too fucking big. So they don't care about taxing since they will just get more money as there is more taxing to go into their buckets and flow

I don't disagree with what you're saying but I'm thinking of specific friends of mine, all here in liberal Portland, and they are realtors and business people. That's why the cognitive dissonance is so strange to me.

That city is on kitchen meth and readybake LSD so there isn't any real reason to expect reason

I live here and believe it or not, not everyone is that extreme. Liberal to the core, but not that extreme.
