Well, here's hoping things don't get to the level where people need to exercise the natural extension of that right.

I'm just hoping that what we're seeing is a consequence of giving everyone social media. In the past, the village idiot was limited in who they could reach with their ramblings, but now we have whole networks of village idiots egging each other on with abhorrent thoughts and occasional actions.

The line between speech and action, though, particularly action with consequence, still seems to remain a hurdle for most.

I think it is. It's very easy to saber rattle when you're hanging out in echo chambers. Happens here sometimes too, though obviously I'm a willing participant, since I love hanging out here.

I think you're right though, we do have networks of village idiots. It's how people like AOC got into Congress. I'm sure in Australia, you guys have got idiots like that too. Considering Britain they're just filled to the brim of idiots (looking at you Sadiq Khan of London).
