The occasional, misleading news tip is going to leak in now and again. And, as you said, it gets sorted out in the rankings. Moreover, in doing so, readers learn what news is bs, and which is real, so mods don't have to sit around all day deleting the same news blip a thousand times.
I just wish more people would take the time to at least read the first page of NEW before posting something. Maybe we should have a "delete" button in addition to deport for those well-meaning but gullible pedes that get suckered into sharing fake twitter accounts or malicious links.
Or perhaps we need to bring back the downvote button and create a category like the opposite HOT that showcases the top ten recently most downvoted headlines and make people scroll past that to post.
Report them. Mods don't have time to take a fine toothed comb to everything.
