All that'll happen is that stupid letter from dozens of academics who created this environment but now that they're out they want the Overton window of academia to open ever so slightly to allow them in, but not right wingers.
Jeremy from the Daily Wire has put it best, academia is fundamentally broken. There is no fixing an institution that isn't just cowardly in caving in to loud students but has filled both staff and administration with pure far left garbage. And so long as most liberal art degrees continue to exist you'll now either force people into debt which drives them to want to vote for someone promising to remove it OR they go into technically useless but potentially influential positions in every level of government and companies (ie. HR departments).
So true. Most of the sane people in academia paid no attention while the lunatics took over and now they’re horrified at what happened while they were doing nothing but they’re too afraid to do anything and it just gets worse and worse
James Lindsay brought up a good point about this and Peter Boghossian has gone through a good 2nd point about this.
Firstly, if you spend your whole career trying to be an academic and then must sacrifice it before tenure, it's not an easy pill to swallow to have to abandon the future you've set out for.
Secondly, if you have tenure, they'll launch any BS they can to still get you out.
Academia is fundamentally broken. There is no fixing it.
