No, it's positively mandatory!

came here to say this, glad it has been said. They took a loan out with a crazy high interest rate to be a hostage to the financial and the education systems. This is why I dropped out.

I can understand if they need to test negative to come back to campus... but to leave?

18

Guys... GUYS.... It’s just a camp for concentration. Why are we getting worked up over it?

8
deadbugdale 8 points ago +8 / -0

Snopes say deboonked it’s an “education camp” not a concentration camp.

SUNY is actually "muh free" ever since a year or two ago. On the condition that they abide by all of NY's strict rules. Else they will pay in full

125
ftwtidder 125 points ago +126 / -1

I’m guessing that’s not legal. 🤷‍♀️

102
LeftistsAreInsane 102 points ago +102 / -0

It's called false imprisonment if any individual attempts to restrict your freedom of movement, including from the campus. If a cop arrests you for attempting to leave, it's also a false arrest.

45
DrCowboyPresident 45 points ago +45 / -0

Most likely they wouldn't stop you, just take your scholarship or whatever

28

Yep, probably some clause says they keep all the money, even what you owe and kick you out.

No there is no clause. I guarantee you Universities do not have a pandemic clause. Nor can they retroactively apply a rule change without you agreeing to it or otherwise nullify the contract.

5
ChuckedBeef 5 points ago +5 / -0

Not unless there is a specific provision for this in their enrollment agreement they won't.

5
Ogcarvattack 5 points ago +5 / -0

have the scholar ship. you on a slave ship now.

2
MoldyLocksNesMonste 2 points ago +2 / -0

Un-enroll from university is how they'd get away with it.

23
liberalfetchmycoffee 23 points ago +25 / -2

Yeah, you would be guessing right.

Hilariously so.

18
Pede 18 points ago +18 / -0

I assume they will remove those students' enrollment in classes and block them from paying for more indoctrination. What's the downside??

4
Mastert3318 4 points ago +4 / -0

They keep the money. Only downside.

I suspect elite colleges to really lean into this post-COVID.

They can give smart minorities/the poor "free ONLINE Harvard/Yale/etc scholarship" which costs them nothing but pads their diversity numbers while charging the global elites $100k a year for their kids to go to "in-person" Harvard/Yale/etc.

3
StabBackAndStandBy 3 points ago +3 / -0

They already basically do this. You can take most of their classes for free online. It only costs five figures if you want credit. They aren't educational institutions. They are certification institutions.

Confirmed. No right to assembly. Police can search any home for any reason.

No word on when they will be applying those rules in Austria and Poland. That is presumably next.

17

That sounds like textbook false imprisonment kids. But the students won't care because they are all brainwashed to accept this kind of thing now.

9

And if they test positive, they stay behind in the dark dorm hallways for some "testing". Yeah nothing creepy about this.

9

Nope. Is depravation of liberty.

8
dunkeater 8 points ago +8 / -0

Empty threats that need to be prosecuted. These universities are out of control trying desperately to create a compliance culture.

My university demanded all students and faculty to get a flu vaccine by Nov 1st, and threatened that they would lock student accounts for anyone who didn't comply. I ignored it completely and am still employed for next quarter, so it looks like it was an empty threat they hoped faculty would just accept without questioning it. Or they don't know how to code their own websites.

7
missmaga2024 7 points ago +7 / -0

This has been going on at most colleges and the students have been putting up with it. Mandatory twice a week testing, reporting to a dorm leader every time you go off campus, etc. They're good and indoctrinated already and see nothing wrong with being treated like 12 year olds on probation. And why would they care, they still get to be glued to their phones and video games. Source: younger sibling who went from lovely young lady to obese sjw during college.

7
highenergywinning 7 points ago +7 / -0

Leave

6
whiskey_shitz 6 points ago +7 / -1

I'd just go where I want and refuse to discuss it with anyone from the university. Its none of their business.

If they tried any kind of punishment I'd sue their ass.

1
Red_Turtle 1 point ago +1 / -0

Agreed. But this requires a spine and all the kids today are raised with the idea of following everything they're told by those in any sort of power. It's "respect your elders" on steroids.

5

5
UnidentifiedWhiteMan 5 points ago +6 / -1

lmfao - and who enforces this?

What's stopping anyone from just leaving anyway?

3
Red_Turtle 3 points ago +3 / -0

My guess is they have people do bed checks in the dorms and whoever isn't in their room gets reported. I'd still walk off campus without saying anything because they have no right or even privilege to do this.

Fun fact: universities were also the enforcement arm for Obamacare. If you didn’t have insurance you weren’t admitted. But wait you can buy a plan and finance for the next 30 years? Sure why not.

They are at most universities to my knowledge even though we should WANT college kids to get it and get immunity naturally. The one near me still has them mandated for the 40 classes they have in person because they can't do it online.

I was looking at going to Texas A&M, but their current mask policy and tattling process is... insane. There's really nowhere to go to be free from this garbage. We have to throw away years of our lives in the HOPE that if we wait long enough, maybe reason will prevail and normal will come back. I won't (and can't) take online classes, so my life is on hold because my career requires my PhD to do anything meaningful (which I'm ok with the degree part, not commie restrictions).

Probably cross referencing lists of people who participated in the testing versus a bedcheck list of missing students from the dorms. Anybody gone from the dorm during a bedcheck round that isn't on the list would be expelled probably.

Why do people keep listening to people that have no power over them.

1
Red_Turtle 1 point ago +1 / -0

College students now are a new breed. They're not the rebellious students of the past and now mostly do as they're told. The college has perceived power, so that perception is all it takes.

It's the student version of what we see outside the college setting with mask mandates and business closures because lockdowns told us to. As adults outside the college setting, we're doing the same thing. Bad adult modeling shows college students and all other kids how to behave. Adults won't stand against these things, so how could a college kid come to the conclusion that they can stand against this?

There will be a few outliers of course, but the majority of the students will cave and do as they're told. They see no other option because they haven't been shown one. We, who know better than to think government has power over us that they've been exerting, have been following illegal orders for months. How could a teenager or young twenty-something who knows nothing of the country, know better than to follow this?

The adults who cave are the ones that confuse and frustrate me. These students? Not so much.

2
NazisWereSocialist 2 points ago +3 / -1

How do they plan to enforce this?
