I had a friend that was a fatal victim of catfishing for drug money. Wasn't really an online thing but rather met her through his work at walmart back when it happened about a decade ago. She was hooked on pain killers, and she and her drug dealer were using him for money. When I realized what was happening I told him he was being used. He tried to get out of it and they killed him and stole his stuff. Because of that I refuse to touch anything opiod based anymore and make sure my family is careful if they ever have to use that stuff.
