There are people that think 1984 was about trump and have bumper stickers to prove it. It's not the reading of the books that's needed, it's comprehension.

And there has never been an english teacher I've met with positive feelings about capitalism or America

The core of the problem is the .gov mandated "free" K-12 education and the control of the material/content to teach.

  1. It is not free, as we, the taxpayers, pay for it;
  2. It is brain-washing.

DOE needs to be disbanded. The mandatory of education from k-12 and public funding of such needs to be abolished as well. Education, like survival, is a privilege, not a right. And if the .gov insist on taking my money to pay for others' education, I demand to determine where that fund goes to. In this case, I would much rather choose to give them to private or charter schools of my choice.

I dont think teachers should be teaching this for that reason. I had my child watch Animal Farm with me on Saturday. My kid was picking up on things and connecting current events. I am going to make sure that I build critical thinking skills to ensure that my kid is a God fearing, free thinking, family-oriented, hard working, American.
