They rarely provide any comparable context, which would show that Boys were safer from abuse during scouting activities than they were at school, or church, and less exposed to predators in a troop than on a sports team or family reunion.

I just want to say, somewhere I know it will be received with the spirit I offer it, that I have never before in my life voted FOR a presidential candidate till 2016 and 2020.
And that I was raised never to idolize or admire ANY politician but to view them as necessary evils to be kept as few and as far in check as possible.
But I love this man and voted for him with my full heart both times. Why he bothered to go through this hell is so far beyond what I can comprehend, I'm just stymied. I have seen, and borne up under, so much blackpill shilling, divisiveness, and hatefulness. And yet that's not a fraction of what this man has borne up under. I am in awe of his heart, soul, and Love.
I can't fully believe he is truly an Outsider...and at the same time I think he may be the only one of that sort, or approaching that. You're a little younger than I am. I registered R in 1980 to vote for John Anderson in the PA primary. I didn't trust Reagan based on the fact that he had been a General Electric (MIC) mouthpiece and was so connected with (((Hollywood))) and all its degeneracy. My parents disliked him for having messed around on lovely Jane Wyman too!
When I was a graduate student at Penn, one of my teaching gigs was at the Wharton School (not my department though). I asked one of the older profs there whether he had known DJT as a student, for DJT was building his "baller" image in the media at the time, and it seemed so very much at odds with the Trump I had heard speaking in interviews (so soft spoken and intelligent).
The prof said that he had known young Donald and that, while he wasn't a "grind," he was an amply decent student, who "treated college like a 9 to 5 job." But on Friday, when all the other kids were talking about what parties they were planning to attend, young Donald was packing his weekender to go north to NYC, to work in the family business.
I don't know what one man can do, and of course there must be people with and behind him, pushing him forward (and maybe impeding him sometimes too).
My first vote was in 1976. Bicentennial year. I was SO PROUD, like you. Now I have come to view voting as a damned-if-I-do-damned-if-I-don't thing. I realize why it is like that--what people have done what actions to bastardize our sacred franchise, and it makes me very sad.
