Yes, I'm a teacher, and remote learning is a bad idea for all but the straight A students. All the teachers in my department (math) want school to come back for this very reason, and the math department even held a meeting with the principal over it. Unfortunately, we were told it was out of his hands because he'd be violating the governor's orders. And our governor is greatly concerned about the health and welfare of our students (/sarc).

If the governor was truly concerned about our students, you know what's more real than Coronavirus? That F on a student's report card.

The Governor isn't really calling the shots. To a Governor, getting a visit from the Teachers Union Boss is like getting a visit from Darth Vader...

I am not part of the teacher's union. Less than 60% of teachers in my state join the union, and it is considered one of the weakest teacher unions in the country (5th tier which is lowest tier).

Lucky you. In many States you must be a member of 'The Party' or be totally Ostracized.

Lol. Why would I join it? It would just cost me money out of my pay check, and I'm a math teacher, so I'm not falling for that. Also, I think unions are pretty dumb for donating to Democrat candidates. The Dems have promised higher pay for teachers for decades but have nothing to show for it. Makes better sense to vote Republican and get lower taxes that you know will actually be delivered.
