I work in a hospital.

I was bringing a guy out to the exit and he gave me this sinceare, heartfelt ‘thank you for your service! I know it’s tough cause of all this covid crap, but I appreciate you, you guys don’t get enough credit, thank you so much, thank you for your service.’

I didn’t have the heart to tell him covid isn’t a big deal.

Like, guy, I just wear a mask all day and that’s it. My life hasn’t changed at all.

My God man, it's such a scam. No, hospital are not overwhelmed. Bed's being at or around 100% capacity (at least for the hospital I work for) is completely standard. It's how the hospital makes money.

Heck, like a year ago we had a doctor in the ER who would admit patients for literally any reason, JUST cause the hospital get's more money for patients who have to stay over night.

And the breaking point? Nurses are at the breaking point cause there's so many scumbags who are looking for excuses to call out. "OH! MY throat is kinda scratchy! COVID! COVID! Gimme a few days off until I get a negative test. We don't want me spreading the virus, right?"

Plus the hospital refuses to hire more staff, despite the availability. Hospitals don't care about burnout, they care about caring for the most patients possible with the least staff needed. You know, like a business.

It's all a scam.

Jjabrams 14 points ago +14 / -0

Thank you for the inside scoop, true patriot.

17
ProfessorRomendev [S] 17 points ago +17 / -0

No problem. All these stupid news people talk about 'overwhelmed nurses', but the problem is a direct result of the company we work for. There is no shortage of nurses at all, only that the individual floors aren't given the budget to hire more staff.

They do have the budget to pay nurses overtime though, cause that's a lot cheaper. Hence all the burnout people talk about.

How many people like you are in your field? Seems like the medical field is a lost cause

2
ProfessorRomendev [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

What do you mean?

Staff complaining about their department’s budget not being large enough? Tons. Everybody complains. We all knew (and didn’t like) that one doctor who admitted patients for the extra money, and everybody knows how the ‘you have to suffer for a while in order to justify a budget increase for more staff’ game is played.

In terms of knowing covid is a scam... hmm. Well I know everyboy is sick of wearing masks, but I think I’m in the minority for that. I know that people don’t really care about it anymore (like nurses not wearing n-95s when going into covid patients room. They only wear one when the patient is being given an ‘aresol’ treatment). But I do know a few who are totally in favor of a complete shutdown of the country for a few weeks. Honestly, I’d lean toward ‘more lost’ than not.

Two_Scoops__ 2 points ago +2 / -0

I tired to pickup a Doctor's note for my son's school from the doctor's office without wearing a mask and the lady lost her damn mind. I told her I had a medical condition but she didn't care. Wouldn't budge. Then this other hyena down the hall her us arguing so she comes out and starts arguing too. Like holy shit, this is legit discrimination going on now. This has to stop.

I'm not tired of the virus at all. The virus is almost nonexistent if you ask me.

Virus is a weird spelling for authoritarian nazi democrats. Theyre the real problem behind all of this. The virus isn't alarming to me at all as much as the 4th Reich hiding behind the virus.

Unions rule the medical industry workers. Unions hate Trump.

13

bureaucrats control the medical/health industry. Last nurse strike ....... ?

Most are part time employees, ddg it 😊

3
cosmichyperlapse 3 points ago +3 / -0

Shits annoying. I'm not medical, but I am union. All the union leaders are die hard Dems, but all the union workers (at least my industry) are die hard Trump supporters.

1

Maybe its time for the unions to pick new leadership?

3
cosmichyperlapse 3 points ago +3 / -0

Lol. That's how it's supposed to work, right? Back when union leaders represented their union workers. Now they all seem to be 'unanimously reelected.' By who? I don't know a soul who gets a say in that vote....

TrumpGirl4Ever 19 points ago +22 / -3

You guys are a tough crowd. There are cases wherein it’s perfectly acceptable to say “thank you” and leave it at that. I thank people for taking my groceries out to the car; the farrier, the FedEx driver, the ladies at the salon.

Along with all the Biden and COVID lies, damn lies and shut, it’s ok to just be nice. For just a few minutes.

Well sure, I smile along and take the compliment. Coworkers and patients thank me all the time for the stuff I do... but this dude thought I was risking my life for the service of the community, or something. I just feel like a fraud.

Sometimes you're not trying to start a scene attempting to convince a stranger of all the evidence we have in a "thank you" exchange. Sometimes it's better to just be nice and wait for the next opportunity where you have the time and place to sit someone down and explain what's up.

I do my part to convince those around me of what's going on, but I'm not going around being a retard.

-5
sorossockpuppet2 -5 points ago +1 / -6

Good luck getting your point across and getting them to listen. Screaming at everyone you see is fucking stupid. But if you think that's what we need to do right now, go start a scene. If some rando came up to your face talking random antifa shit you wouldn't listen, mostly because of the way you approached and how you're conveying the info. You're fucking stupid

HEROES WORK HERE...LOL fuckin bullshit

5
LiberTerrarium 5 points ago +5 / -0

That's part of the societal demoralization, too. When everyone is a hero, no one is.

10
DestroyerofCobwebs 10 points ago +11 / -1

I don't mean any insult to OP with this comment, but;

I'm so tired of all this faux-hero worship directed at the medical community. I guess we just add medical staff the the bullshit list of other not-very-dangerous professions that we've been forced to include in the every expanding list of 'Heros'. Teachers, truck drivers, grocery store staff, I'm sure they've added another group while I was writing the list.

Give me a fucking break. Are these clowns getting paid still? Are they getting shot at on the daily? No? Then STFU and do your job.

I figure whores will be the next group added to the 'Hero' list, since ya know, they have to risk getting the coof to suck dick for money.

5
KnightKreider 5 points ago +5 / -0

Here's another way to look at it that may help you see them differently. When covid hit in March, we were told it was killing people at a high rate with little way for us to know who it would hit the hardest. PPE was rationed and reports started coming in that around the world doctors and nurses were dying. In light of that news, people in the medical community rushed in still towards the unknown. That, to me, still warrants recognition.

6
DestroyerofCobwebs 6 points ago +7 / -1

I'm not impressed. Correctional staff get piss and shit thrown on them every day. Welders deal with unavoidable occupational hazards that are guaranteed to cause them serious health implications later in life. Roofers work in the blistering sun and freezing cold for pennies compared to what those doctors and nurses get paid.

You don't hear about the risks taken by those or any of the hundreds of other dangerous jobs people do every day. Know why? Cause they aren't out there constantly whining about it.

100%. Covid has not been THAT big of a deal.

You wear the N-95 when you go in the covid room, you do what you need to do, you're done.

Hospital staff have complained more about the mask mandate than having to deal with covid patients.

As a veteran it is just awkward when people thank me. Just accept the fact there are still good people out there who recognize you work hard.

1
Mark0alag0 1 point ago +2 / -1

I never go up to a stranger who is a veteran and thank them “for their service”. Number 1, they are a stranger and for all I know they are a pedophile or worse, or are just pathetic as a human being, were I to get to know them. Number 2, on top of them being a stranger, more than likely they joined the service for something other than patriotic reasons....it was a way for them to get benefits, etc, and their duties were no less harrowing than that of a garbage collector, which, by the way, the garbage collectors ALL, with no exception “are keeping us safe” no hyperbole. So why not thank garbage collectors?

No offense taken. It's nonsense. Man, I remember how nervous I was at first, when covid started and all the democrats were telling us to party it up in china town.

Then they said I couldn't wear gloves in the hallway when moving a covid patient 'cAuSe iT's NoT pRoFeSsIoNaL', and I knew it was a scam.

3

3
Bogey 3 points ago +3 / -0

I know how you feel.

I've done work where I was mildly inconvenienced and had people thanking me profusely. Plus I'm being paid $60 an hour to do it.

Meanwhile, I think back to jobs I've done where I labored 24 hours straight covered in mud with no plan for a hot meal or a good rest in sight. It just makes what I'm doing then feel real trite.

So I usually just thank them and tell them 'no problem'. The idea they have on the trouble versus my idea doesn't have to line up.

3
Shesaidwhat79 3 points ago +3 / -0

You are not a piece of trash. The medical professionals were deceived too. Some of the Covid cases are not always a big deal depending where you are. But we do see some cases difficult to treat especially in the elderly. People on the outside just believe the hero hype because of what they are told by media. The truth is we are no more heros than anyone else who deals with this stupid virus. My life has changed I work a lot of extra shifts now staff out sick. We have lost a couple of coworkers too. It is not the patient load that is doable when people are not out sick.

3
batboy 3 points ago +3 / -0

Lol well yeah a LOT of people literally think the world is collapsing because of covid.

Unreal. I mean its good that youre getting recognition because it would fucking suck to take care of sick people for a living and being around death all the time... Would wear me out for sure.

Bit yeah they think youre working with the plague. Ridiculous.

But yeah keep up the good work pede

Its weird to see non medical personal wearing masks to buy groceries.

3
QuantumRemedy 3 points ago +3 / -0

I had a family friend die recently of COVID. I still think its a scam as did my family friend who refused to wear masks or social distance. My thoughts is that his age (in his sixties I believe) and his over exposure to hospitals may have caused him to have a high viral load.

I think the saddest thing is this is such a scam that we cant even focus on the real danger zones and at-risk folks to minimize pointless deaths but not at the cost of locking down low risk individuals. And now it's all political. Fuck these globalist scum that made this political and not fact-based.

Op, I had a bad allergic reaction to something years back. Co worker ran me to hospital while my throat was swelling up. They got me into er, pumped me full of steroids and uhh whatever that medicine is. Benadryl? The base medicine. Anyways, so I’m falling asleep because I’m high as fuck on this shit and the male nurse is checking my pulse and I’m like

“Bro thanks man, you guys are so awesome.” Then I passed out

One of the gayest, most embarrassing moments of my life and I hate you all for drugging me lmao.

My brother still to this day is upset he didn’t get a pick of me with my head swollen up like a flesh sack so he could make fun of me for years to come. Dodged a bullet there!
