In a way the military is the largest socialist indoctrination organization in the US. (College is the useful idiot / degenerate factory)
Government owns you, literally.
Need permission to do anything including going more than x distance from your post when off duty. Off limits lists exist for every post/base. Possible UCMJ action if you disobey.
Everything is “given” (issued) to you. Food comes out of your pay wether you eat it or not.
Anything that you can take home (keep in your barracks/quarters) you pay for upkeep/updating. Even your awards they give you a paper, you gotta go the their store and buy the ribbon to wear.
Clothes faded a little bit? Nope unserviceable go get a new set. What, we gave you 4 pair when you joined. How come you used your uniform allowance to update your dress uniform instead of buying new boots?
You live in government apartments if you’re skilled trades, open bays of bunk beds and lockers if you’re gonna be a killer.
The medical system is another fine example. You have to ask your boss for permission to see a medic/aid station. If you don’t perform to standards because “you don’t feel good” but aren’t sick they can hit you with a malingering charge.
Respect is demanded by your superiors based on rank, not merit (combat/combat support it is usually well deserved). Rank is time in service (or # of degrees before signing up) not things completed successfully. Ask an E 8 or 9 how they feel about working directly for an O1. In combat that works and is how it has to be for survival and success of the unit. Now go straighten out the rocks in the parking lot while I deny your leave packet.
Lots of people experience it and realize what it is, they’ll die fighting before allowing it to be the norm for civi life in America.
Lots of people think that this is exactly what civi life is missing and would fix a most of the problems in America.
Let the hate flow. I have my DD214 show me yours.
Word salad. What’s the point?
Not all that swear the oath will keep it. Most won’t when it comes to their benefit vs your rights.
Ok I can agree with you there pede!
Virtually all of the general activities of a free, dynamic society do NOT fit a military model. The military can only exist where there's an economic engine that can support it - not the other way around.
Could our society use some kind of mandatory military service? Possibly. It's worked here before. It works in Israel with the IDF.
But I don't think what you're referring to is at all apples-to-apples to socialism.
It’s the conditioning of weak minds that when released from service desire to have the same structure in civi life.
I don't know about that. Structure itself isn't the problem. It's that you need to be motivated extrinsically by someone telling you what to do, rather than intrinsically.
Intrinsically motivated people will often create highly ordered, structured lives to be their most effective - military or not.
Ooo so snappy What did you do that makes your opinion worth reading?
I know what you're getting at. I'm 5 months away getting my DD214. I can't wait.
That's the beauty of the nasty girls. When things start get just a bit too stupid you get to go back home. Unless you're an NCO. Then you have to do shit outside of drill.
I can’t read all that can I get tldr?
When you're in the army they own you, no freedom: soldiers don't want to see that happen to the rest of us. [I hope I did that ^^ justice]
Good reading comprehension pede
Don't bother. It's a personal assessment that has little, to no, relevance to any of the pressing issues that need to be focused on.
It is different in philosophy. Socialism you have no vested interest in others. You dont know who your contributing to and those you are contributing to can squander it entirely.
Atleast in a healthy unit you can work for each other and that's all you need. All fighting and working for a common cause.
Why unpopular? Sounds well reasoned.
