I Just want to see what some ideas you all have to ensure this doesn't happen again. here are mine:
1 national voter id with thumb scan ( if that's too big bro the we use the dye like in Iraq and Afghanistan) with mandatory update every ten years to coincide with the census
-
All mail in ballots must be counted first
-
States are rewarded by number of counties one by the candidate. this would break any holds the Urban centers would have.
or
EC is broken up by congressional districts of a state
No more electors. Make it an electoral point system (no faithless electors). One point per congressional district, and two points per state won.
You messed up on #2 - there should NEVER be “mail in votes” again! Military and sick/elderly can request ABSENTEE ballots, but NO “mail in votes!
Also - NO “early voting days” - if you can’t make the time to vote...too bad! Election Day should be ONE DAY! They could make it a National day off work, maybe, so everyone can vote that works.
And, NO National ID - States make their election laws. BUT, make a law that in all federal elections, you MUST show a photo ID ( DL, State ID, Military ID, College ID), and any State that gives out DL to NON-citizens, MUST make those DL’s totally different in appearance than citizen’s DL’s AND state “NON-Citizen” on the card.
And, every year the Sec. of State has to eliminate voter rolls of deceased residents, and residents who have moved to another State. Must be printed in all in-state newspapers/websites so residents can see.
I may of been to general there. I remember mail in being only Absentee and Military Votes from overseas
The simplest and easiest solution is always the best.. it doesn't take a think tank to instantly make a perfect system.
Are you ready?
Everyone has to register to vote in advance (let's say 90 days leading up to) any election (local up to federal) and provide current proof of residency as well as an ID. No voter rolls, no nothing. Excersize your rights or don't use them. After each election the process must happen again before the next election.
