I called this years ago - Germany is a military shell of what it once was, but German's love conquest and control. This time it was just handed to them - which is insane. Brits and Francs still have grudges from 500 years ago, but no hard feelings over the 2 major conflicts and lives lost due to German ambition in the last century.
If one thing's clear though, German ambition is ALWAYS their demise. This time, they're just bringing down the rest of Europe with them..
While it is a gross generalization, I will risk playing with the stereotype: the Germans are an energetic and, yes, ambitious people who can be very well disciplined in the pursuit of a goal (otherwise, they are completely chaotic). In and of itself, these are not bad traits; they can even be good traits. But, even a good trait can be put to evil purpose if it is subverted towards those ends. Germany is the engine of Europe; it always has been -- and with that reality comes the risk that it will be pointed towards destructive ends (but it could also be pointed towards good too, and we don't know what the future brings).
True. History has shown us though, that the German people are easily swayed unto chaos and their "precision engines" are tailored to destruction. We don't know what will happen, but we do know what has happened. Even as a force for good, Germany should be treading lightly on the worlds stage, not conquering Europe. I'm amazed that Europeans allow it, but many are sadly too different of people for me to relate to.
