I wish there were some kind of alternative just for the smart-home type stuff (like automatically turning lights on, just random convenient stuff like that) that wasn't owned by someone like amazon or google, was more decentralized and not reliant on a massive third party, etc. No data collection, no account needed, and totally isolated from everything except for being able to perform those kinds of functions.
