Over the last few weeks it's been nonstop doom reports from the lamestream #FakeNews media about how "rural America is drowning in COVID cases, hospitals are overloaded, cancel your holiday travel plans, everyone needs to mask up and lock down."

Can anyone who actually lives in rural America confirm or deny this? Is the lamestream media inflating the numbers in rural regions to make Trump look bad? Are the hospitals really overloaded or was that #FakeNews panic-mongering?

So far I'm getting the impression that the rural COVID-1984 "epidemic" is mostly #FakeNews alarmism designed to trick people into cancelling Thanksgiving, complying with all sorts of ridiculous and excessive restrictions, while sinking the economy and making people miserable so they blame Trump. Maybe there are a few hard-hit areas but those are an extreme minority.

It's not as bad ANYWHERE as they reported. Remember the videos of Chinese people falling down in the street?

Probably Beijing's paid "wu mao" actors, receiving 50 cents for each staged propaganda stunt.

Because they are supposed to only be at a 15% capacity, which is considered 100% capacity during COVID. It's like waiting 2 hours for a table reservation at a restaurant that has no tables and you walk in and there are only 2 tables out of 10 that are occupied..because they are only allowed to seat two tables.

Nobody here even knows anybody that has had it.

Local hospital has a couple patients total.

My husband said hospitals are at about 15% for COVID, but are supposedly "full"..... Makes no sense.

COVID-1984: "How full are the [mostly empty] hospitals, if Big Brother says they are overflowing?"

None around me. Still don't know anyone who has gotten it and I have church/social groups I interact with. Hospitals are quiet, local big health insurance monopoly advertising for people to get tests, procedures postponed during Covid. Still fooling a lot of the easily frightened elderly in my community.

I live in central Minnesota, I know, I know, Ilhan’s a criminal, but our hospital is full. Now, in the past we didn’t admit patients with influenza unless they needed IV fluids (so Covid pts shouldn’t be admitted either) but we also didn’t get a huge supplement for “Rule out Covid” from the government so I call bullshit on at least 50% of the admissions. They are definitely having a nursing crisis, though. I recently retired and was called from a recruiter last week with a job offer to retired nurses to come and help primary nurses. No thank you to wearing a mask and being in Covid isolation rooms all day. Both of my daughters families have had it, too, with mild to moderate symptoms. Hearing of more people but with flu symptoms.

Rural NC foothills here. Lots of positive cases but no new deaths. Seems like most are going on with their lives. Quarantine if test positive, take 2 weeks off from work and back to normal is the cycle here.

My husband did some work for a gentleman that works in finances at a hospital. He asked him about the COVID numbers. He said EVERYTHING has COVID on it. Every person that comes in...every person that dies. Why? Because they receive more funds if COVID is attached. They’ve always done this, using other illnesses. He said that hospitals would never survive otherwise because so many people don’t pay their bills. He said COVID is nothing more than a cold or maybe the flu.

I'm in rural SC. Almost zero cases. The ones we do have are sketchy, seeming more like pneumonia. The one person that got sick at my wife's work wore a mask all the time. Nobody else did.

Our shitty mayor tried to make a mask mandate. Most people are ignoring it. He successfully terrified black folks, though. They are almost totally masked up and terrified. I explain when I get a chance to them that the mask is causing the problems.

I felt like I might be fighting something the other day. I ate a half teaspoon of Sodium Ascorbate every hour, some vitamin D, and Zinc, and was fine the next day.

It is what it is, a flu, it developed to pneumonia in some. Hospitals not at all even close to having a problem.
