Dumb question, but watching 5 years of antifa videos made me wonder.

Do any of y'all know why sometimes a guy will get punched once and be flattened, and other times people can take what look like powerful hits to the head and keep going?

Is it about where you you get hit, what angle, etc? Mostly is there a way to avoid getting one shot sucker punched?

Most one punch knock outs are jaw hits. The jaw floats and is attached to the skull with pressure points right behind the earlobe. Press your finger in that soft spot and see how sensitive it is.

When you get hit on one side of the jaw, it shifts the jaw and violently presses on the pressure point on the opposite side. Your brain has a fail safe that shuts your body down when you get hit like this (or on the back of the head). Sounds kinda crazy that the fail safe is to make you pass out but reality is, it is designed to keep you from getting additional head trauma by making your body pull away from whatever the initial trauma was.

That's why a hook in boxing or in MMA or a round kick to the side of the head is responsible for most knock outs. It is also why it is vital to keep your hands up in a fight as a way to protect your jaw.

Wow that's crazy. I never would have thought a jaw shot was MORE likely to knock you out.
