Also a developer. Completely agree these systems need to be using open source code. No way crap this this should be happening. Either they have the most incompetent programers in the history of professional programming or it was done intentionally.

Retired programmer, here. You are correct. If I had designed systems with so many faults, I'd never have made it to retirement.

Unless...that was how I was told to design them.

Hmmm...

It's all designed to have these flaws. That is why it is so widespread. You can change votes manually, set it to "weighted" voting, make it have a certain winner.

I’m a software developer too. I work on control systems for particle accelerators. My team could design this system, open source (just like our normal code), and, with transparent documentation.

At a minimum this is what people deserve. It is not hard to achieve. There’s no excuse why we can’t use simple, open and, secure systems for this. Although to be honest, paper ballots are the best. Oh, and voter Id; there’s not a argument that can argue successfully against IDENTIFICATION.

Control systems for particle accelerators? That must be an interesting job, and some real high end coding there. Those particle accelerators are no joke.
