Maybe they can dial the search bar like signature recognition. Set it so search works with older accounts and see how they works. If that doesn’t work maybe by upvote level on an account.
Neither are perfect but maybe it could give search access to some people.
Or index and host the search on different server. So if it gets hit they st least the main site stays up. That one costs more money though.
