It's an absurd myth that they didn't know how to plant corn. They simply chose not to plant corn, because their commune shared everything. There was no need to plant corn, because, others would plant corn for you. So everybody starved as communists always do.

They traded everything they had to the Indians. Their clothes and blankets and boots and anything the Indians would take for a handful of corn. Until they had nothing left to trade.

When they had nothing left to trade, they committed the egregious crime against Communism, of taking jobs in exchange for pay. They would carry water and firewood, in exchange for small amounts of corn.

The Natives saw that they were all dropping dead from the famine, and they were kind enough to bring food. That's what we're giving thanks for. Indians who rescued us from Communism.

After Thanksgiving, they abandoned communism and parceled up land for each settler. People were allowed to keep or sell what they grew, so they grew it. And they all thrived.
