Beautifully stated. Even some americans are victims of that programming, and it shows in how they treat the first and second amendment.
Many faux patriot types that cant read completely through a paragraph are like this in my work place and community. It drives me crazy.

Is that why Google says Poland is the 166th most armed country and only 0.6% of the population posses permits? Doesn't sound too gun loving to me, the opposite actually.
A lot of polish people love guns, but equally as many hate them, so this is one of the political taboo topics here. We had some really tiny steps in the right direction - we removed the permits for black powder guns and there were laws passed which reduced the subjectivity in issuing permits. And, who would've thought, the homicide rate did not skyrocket.
Yet if you try to defend using your legally owned gun the prosecution will do anything it can to put you in jail. If all else fails they will try to paint yhou a cold blooded murderer just off of the fact that you did not cry while calling 112 (eu's 911).
And you better pray the aggressor is dead, unless you want to pay his disability pension for the rest of his life.

wanting more gun control is something I will probably never understand and I'm not even american, why would you want to lose freedoms and depending on the circumstances potentially lose independence of your own country because of a tiny portion of crimes, safety isn't that important

Most people assume even western nations are basically America-like in their laws. On some things, yes, but on others Americans would be surprised. That's why leftist politicians love other countries and have been trying to manipulate the US constitution for decades.
Dutch here. As a small example, almost all my friends think guns are some kind of supercatalysts for agression. And indeed think only the police and militairy should have them.
That said they enjoyed themselves greatly when i took them to the range for a bit of shooting.

Owning firearms is for sport, and for something most of us never thought would happen, to defend against a tyrannical government.

USA, number 1 in total mass shootings. Number 66ish (changes by year) in mass shootings per capita. Despite having far, far, far more guns than any other country. Kind of like how we have one of the lowest per capita covid death rates.

I grew up in Canada back in the day where we had M1 carbines, Lee Enfields, 38 specials, Lugers and 45s around the house in the country. Shotguns and 22s too numerous to mention as well. We handled them as young as 11 years old. A couple of decades ago I came to the States and I'm glad I did. Freedom died in Canada with not even a whimper. Technically still ruled by the Queen with government authority being pretty much whatever they decide. Trudeau has said in no uncertain words he plans to flood the country with immigrants in 2021. You could not even shoot a trespasser in your bedroom without going to jail now. Nobody said a word, no protests, no burning buildings. The brainwashing is complete. I fear Biden/Harris will do the same here if they are not stopped now.

Another important point to bring up to such clueless foreigners. Guns are a means of security, and they are also a means for standoff.
Up to the point before the shooting starts there is plenty of time an distance for both sides to stand down, and a mob does not have absolute superiority of force on an individual. So having that right of self defense that centers around firearms and distance is a good thing. Because the alternative would be machetes.
