My child was affected by this, my second child hasn't been to daycare in almost a year.
I work in life sciences, everyone I work with is a masker, full blown COVID is a plague types. I engaged one in discussion and found him to be an idiot. The follow the science and believe the science is their mantra. They cannot wait to get a big shot of vaccine. I myself will not take a vaccine, and I hope that some legal eagle here figures out a way to get around mandatory vaccination. I was thinking religious freedom and HIPPA?
A second worker yesterday reported on a post-doc for not wearing a mask, sitting in a cube by them self after work hours. Told myself and the boss. I was shocked, I have to say. It was just like 1984. On the way home I realized that both of them were experiencing double-think.
"science" is their religion and "scientists" are their priests.

Scientists think they know how to critically think, but anytime politics is involved, they always parrot MSM narratives. Same thing with fucking climate change.

As a non scientist, my guess is because the way science is taught, involves memory and computations, not with logic and critical thinking. If you grab a bunch of students out of a law school and trained them, they would probably make better scientists
Those things are also taught. I think maybe it has more to do with entitlement? Many don't have an ingrained mistrust of govt at all.
It is truly saddening. Marxism is a mental virus that gains more traction on people with higher intelligence. One great antidote seems to be what could be considered "wisdom." Or the ability to perceive reality. The reason is simple: It is a pseudo-intellectual construct upon which Marxism is based - abstractions over abstractions over abstractions. It's premises are wrong, but none of them care to investigate them. It takes effort and life experience.
While the foundation is absolute garbage, the little abstract elements seem to fit just neatly. Sometimes it is shattered and bombarded by reality, but that's no issue if you have a mechanism to defy contradictory information.
Postmodernism ensured that even LOGIC no longer matters. Hypocrisy does not exist, truth does not exist, objectivity does not exist - in such a world, only POWER matters. Power is the only concept leftists truly understand.
And we are ALL infected with that mind virus. We ALL have that infliction in our mind, affecting our thinking, language and actions. It is ultimately a significant part that lead us to this mask-fascist, anti-science, INSANE Covid crap. It is total clown world - seriously - ABSOLUTE CLOWN WORLD level insane. And that's the "new normal."
The people who orchestrated this must be both laughing at how easy masses can be manipulated, while also be disgusted by humanity. They HATE humanity and they just proved themselves right.
I would press these people on what “science” they are referencing. Them show them your sources. That’s what I do and it shuts people up pretty fast because they’re just parroting that like about “following the science”. The science doesn’t actually support anything they are saying. They’re just too lazy and stupid to look it up, and emotionally they can’t handle being wrong unless you force them to face it by shoving the info into their face.
