UPDATE
another twist to this story
CONFIRMED: Trump pardoned Flynn to put him back in play at the DoD with Chris Miller and Ezra Cohen-Watnick in preparation for mass ARRESTS of treasonous deep state actors
One on the left could have said, Trump pardoned Flynn so that he could use Flynns attorney.
In other words, suggesting Sidney Powell could have said to Trump, "If you give my client a pardon, I will work to reverse this fraudulent election using any special military access I have through flynn or his contacts in intelligence security complex"--which would be a quid pro quo.
That never happened though, and they wanted to make the Public damn sure they knew that did not happen.
And after the "Heaping of blame and shame of SIdney Powell" and Twitters shamepile 12 hour penaltybox, there is no possible avenue by which the media can ever make this argument
4D Chess
Elaborate
So in order to avoid the impropriety of that, the Trump team officially stated that Sidney Powell is NOT their attorney and never WAS on their team. This was, exactly as THEY said, a "Clarification" and nothing more.
It was done for optics, so that you would see it, because it was "bait" that they knew the Media (and even the alt media) would jump on and both complain about and shame Sidney and the Trump team as "the most unprofessional thing they've ever seen", because the people who said that ASSUMED that Sidney Powell was on their team, because she showed up at the press conference with them.
Giuliani somewhat half confirmed (did not disavow) the "distancing" narrative because he knew what was coming, but ultimately didn't want to reveal it by going against the narrative because he wanted to give Trump the opportunity to make the pardon on his own timeline.
Trust me they are all on the same page, Sidney, Rudy, etc. He said they are pursuing different avenues; and that's not untrue.
They needed to remind the public that Sidney was independent in order to BLOCK any future narrative, or lawsuit, or effort to go after Sidney Powell over quid pro quo or any other kind of stupid bullshit involving conflicts of interest or campaign finance abuse issues that would have arisin regarding hiring her.
I viewed the pardon as a sign Trump no longer believe Gen. Flynn could win in court and wanted to reward loyalty before his term ended.
