Dec 14 is the big vote when state representatives cast electoral votes. If Biden or Trump gets 270 there, its over.
However if that vote fails and neither reaches 270 (some states might abstain), than we go to contingent election where each state gets 1 vote. In past precedent Contingent elections were held in February - so I don't know what happens to Office of the President given term ends on Jan 20th.
Contingent election is a risk to us because there would be that span of 2 to 3 weeks when there would be an interim government that could pull some bullshit.
But it might also become our only hope - courts may invalidate elections in some states, but they are highly unlikely (and i actually don't think they legally can) to order states to vote for either candidate.
Republicans might pussy out to say 'election is invalid... we are going to vote for Trump on behalf of our state'.
