It's pushing down news articles. We can't find them anymore and the likelyhood of viewers going beyond the first page or two is low.
That's what spam is - regardless if it's well intentioned.
If you look at the profile, he's doing 20 of these at a time. That's a full page of stories pushed off new, rising, and now they're appearing on hot.
This isn't news.

Okay, now that makes sense. I still don't see it as that big an issue though. I see a few of them together, sure, but also surrounded by plenty of other threads.
