I didn't downvote you. but still kinda disagree. That is if you mean the recent arrivals the past few decades have also been reluctant to assimilate. But in the early days of US immigration they were basically forced to assimilate. I know alot of immigrants who don't feel the need. Especially alot of the Chinese that moved here. Some are wonderful americans, some think they never left china.
