If they actually did to you what they imagined you're doing to them then you will have the basis hate them more than they hate us because they'll be doing the same bug for real. However they believe what they imagine is being done to them is for real. That'll justify reciprocation in their mind. If for example I hallucinate someone punching me so I punch them back. They will increasingly abuse other people based on their augmented reality which is really little more than self inflicted mental torture where they're imagining other people are doing it.

Because if you make people believe that, then they feel justified in doing horrible things "back". The reason this works the most with lefties is because of their morality. They only care about fairness, while conservatives care fairly equally for all 5 of Haidt's moral value systems.
So all you have to do is convince them that something has been unfair, and they have no other moral constraints keeping them from "retaliating" (but really striking first, because they've just been fooled in to thinking they or someone else has been wronged).
