Exactly. All that talk about being a victim is conditioning them to feel justified in attacking. That's why the most important tenets to them are men are oppressing women, and white people are oppressing minorities, and straight people are oppressing gays, etc.
Because if you make people believe that, then they feel justified in doing horrible things "back". The reason this works the most with lefties is because of their morality. They only care about fairness, while conservatives care fairly equally for all 5 of Haidt's moral value systems.
So all you have to do is convince them that something has been unfair, and they have no other moral constraints keeping them from "retaliating" (but really striking first, because they've just been fooled in to thinking they or someone else has been wronged).
There's a famous example of it here. It's quite funny to hear remainers crying and asking why are they being punished, well this is basically the reason why. That single scene explains the entire reason why there were no other alternatives than to leave the EU.
It's not only dangerous in cases like this where you can see a man who has done absolutely nothing wrong being verbally harassed, threatened and insulted, told off like a child by someone with no authority to do so.
It's also dangerous because when you treat people like that eventually people go postal and they'll throw back far worse than angry words back.
On either side it's going to escalate and the real question now is who pulls the trigger first. It's not tit for tat however. Their side will escalate recursively on their own.
