I've noticed that. I've got quite a few European friends, and that's the best word I can think of to describe European attitudes in general. Servile. Probably the result of having almost two generations of their brave men die in a pair of world wars. The only thing left to lead them is the ambitious cowards.
Every once in a while you find a free thinking gem in the rough, but they're few and far in-between, and NEVER let it be known what they actually think.

That is a very real trait of europeans. Generations of monarchal rule will do that to you.
