They all take drugs, and everyone knew it.

I'd support postal carriers doping if it meant the mail was delivered faster.

2
Peashout 2 points ago +2 / -0

You mean junk mail? I haven't got an actual letter in years.

3
NutterButter 3 points ago +3 / -0

Ultimately, the concept of a level playing field is bullshit anyway. Somehow it's fine to get an insane unfair advantage from your genetics, which you don't even have to pay or work for, but drugs, which still can't fully overcome genetics, and which people can actually acquire, are banned?

That's monarchism man. You are lucky enough to be born a certain way and everyone else can just go fuck themselves? That's unamerican. Everyone should have the opportunity to get to the top, by whatever means they choose to use that don't harm other people.

Jackhererer 13 points ago +13 / -0

He never failed a test. A former teammate got caught and ratted on him. Turns out the top 4 in all those years were also cheating.

Iron deficiency is impossible these days

The irony is literally palpable

Pres_Trump 49 points ago +52 / -3

The top 25 place finishers in his wins also tested positive for EPO. He was the best ever no matter the circumstances. But, I hear he was a peace of shit.

23
orc_lives_matter 23 points ago +24 / -1

Greg LeMond is the name you should hear a lot more when talking about US cycling. Dude claimed to have never cheated and not only that he won a TdF after his brother-in-law shot him during a hunting accident.

Movie recommendation if you liked any of what you just read, "Slaying the Badger".

stonepony 3 points ago +3 / -0

Is that the one with Kevin Costner?

American Flyers. Classic.

No.

Ah, yeah that's just the only cycling movie I can remember.

Oh, it's a 30 for 30 ESPN episode, that's why I couldn't find it. Will check it out.

But now I have to watch that old Costner cycling movie again.

4
7_17_24 4 points ago +4 / -0

Breaking Away is a great cycling movie.

1
thewordwolf 1 point ago +2 / -1

It's a 30 for 30 documentary.

Very good.

You_Aint_Black 15 points ago +15 / -0

Cheating must not be tolerated. Period.

The fact that many Americans are not able to grasp this simple moral truth is one of the reasons we find ourselves in this situation.

4
whomurderedepstein 4 points ago +4 / -0

I have found, since reading about Lance when I was a child and looking up to him as a role model, that everyone cheats somewhere (even if they didn't mean too). We live in a banana Republic where the ones that get ahead, well they cheat.

As long as there are rules to break, there will be cheating. We need less rules not more. We need more accountability in our elections, that's true, but cheaters are always going to cheat. As we have seen, they used the Covid rules to cheat in the election. The Covid rules are not based on science. The constitution is ignored by tyrannical traitors in government office. Some people keep their businesses open, some don't. Some people had a real need for relief money and used it legally, some people didn't. Some people pay taxes, some people don't. Some people represent their legal fiction when they talk to cops and get fined, some people don't. The reality is that the cohesion that held us together for so long, honesty, hard work and integrity have been replaced with coruption, sloth, and vice.

Solution: Devote your life to Jesus Invest in bitcoin Dig a garden Clean your rifles Prepare for war.

We need to go through some rough times before we get strong men again to rebuild what we have lost.

KickingPugilist 10 points ago +11 / -1

Personally, if sports are entertainment and testing the human body, I don't mind if they use performance enhancers. It's just people doing things that we find entertaining, how many great songs would have never come to fruition if artists weren't high?

13
BeerAndCope 13 points ago +13 / -0

I don’t mind if they use performance enhancers either, so long as everyone is allowed to take them if they want. If they aren’t allowed by rule and you take them anyway you are cheating.

6
bpcpdx 6 points ago +6 / -0

Not a sports fan but honestly I would find it more entertaining if they didn't even hide it and the goal was to do just enough so you don't end up killing yourself so everyone was like a freaking beast and records get absolutely smashed.

3
orc_lives_matter 3 points ago +3 / -0

if sports are entertainment

Begging the question.

3
AllahFubar 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'd say he was the best of his era. I'd go with Eddy Merckx for best ever.

Reminds me of another American, I forget the name. He was in the Tour de France and way behind on the last day or so. Then POW out of nowhere he ROCKETS to the lead. How? He decided that he would megadose whatever cheating concoction he had. Figured it would be better to win and try not to get caught versus losing and no one caring if you cheated or not.

12
streakybacon 12 points ago +12 / -0

He even wrote a sob story book and spent chapters blaming the doping on his cancer and pretending he was hard done by and that he'd won solely because of his strong ambition and drive.

These people and their methods are all the same.

12
Lurkermon 12 points ago +12 / -0

It took a lot of balls to do what Lance Armstrong did.

He didn't change the results of the races though, nor did he take illegal track shortcuts, install course obstacles, or influence and/or threaten the judges of said races. He cheated yes, but his cheat only affected himself.

They Stole My Fucking Vote Right Off the Ballot and then Replaced it with a FAKE VOTE for My Natural Enemy!

Big Difference!

6
stonepony 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yeah, everyone knew he cheated because they were all using the same mobile PED buses to get doped up on all the same drugs.

6
Steelflite 6 points ago +6 / -0

Know how I know all the males here are better than Lance? We've all got the same number of tour de france medals as him and twice the balls.

I say let athletes juice. I liked watching baseball when they were crushing 60 hr’s a year.

5
thewordwolf 5 points ago +6 / -1

I made this same point earlier.

And the guy who pointed out Lance's cheating? American hero Greg Lemond. And Lance and the media ridiculed Greg for years for pointing it out. He even lost his endorsements, was blacklisted by the Tour de France and US cycling.

Guess who is the only American cyclist to have legitimately won the Tour?

Greg Lemond.

Really warms my heart. Thanks for the reminder. If I recall it was an international doping scandal correct ?

The Tour de France is traditionally held in France.

But like the Dakar Rally, terrorism will probably drive it to another continent.

chopz 4 points ago +4 / -0

Just imagine how many legitimate "2nd place" athlete careers he ended by being a massive fucking cheater.

4
fat50 4 points ago +4 / -0

If we're being honest, the only legitimate athletes were probably riding in 15th place and beyond.

3
bpcpdx 3 points ago +3 / -0

Contracted at adidas at the time this happened. A lot of the meeting rooms were named after athletes. I got to be the one to pull his name off the room named after him.

Good analogy to what's going on now. But let's be honest. He cheated and so did the top 15 other racers.

So he won a bunch of races against other cheaters ... He was the best cheater.

1
fat50 1 point ago +1 / -0

Eh. Not the same thing. He still rode the fucking bike and kicked ass against all the other dopers(they all do it).

He didn't get towed across the finish line by a car labeled "DEEP STATE".

1
Rocky88 1 point ago +1 / -0

Going half-sack wasn’t enough.

1
GoldNavet 1 point ago +1 / -0

Wondering how long people in the racing community knew he was cheating before they took action?

1
Tokens_Worth 1 point ago +4 / -3

Fact: everyone was doing it.

Lance got attacked and singled out.

1
BunnyPicnic 1 point ago +1 / -0

Is it really cheating though if the top 50 cyclists are "cheating"?

1
nautilus 1 point ago +1 / -0

A cyclist friend once showed me a chart of their times - during that era of doping all the top cyclists were 10% faster than historical norms. After Lance got popped all the times dropped back to historical norms.

1
TheGunFairy 1 point ago +1 / -0

I dont call supplementing your testosterone after losing one of your balls to cancer that had also spread to your lungs lymph nodes and brain cheating. Maybe the EPO a little bit but that is like saying taking anti oxidants or beet powder is cheating too.

1
Gravity 1 point ago +1 / -0

Sorry, I am still sort of a Lance fan. He made me love cycling. Also, made me hate cycling.

1
CALunaticAsylum 1 point ago +1 / -0

great point. Cheating mother fucker

1
Legal-Alien-Prob-Mas 1 point ago +1 / -0

Also Lance Armstrong, beat all the cheaters, by cheating better! This is the one guy I give credit too. No other cyclist cheater, could keep up. That's commitment!

1
FelixtheMan 1 point ago +1 / -0

I dont care about sports and PEDs have been used for decades. Blood doping, roads, gh, whatever.. just shut up and play your sports losers. I remember when we had to spend millions to have congress investigate this
